Learning objectives:

• Identify key requirements of the proposed regulations, including provisions that are not in the proposed ADA Standards themselves but are in the body of the regulation; compare/contrast them with the 1991/1994 ADA Standards and regulations
• Explain the key considerations in planning for compliance with the proposed requirements and incorporating Universal Design principles to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse population (including people with disabilities, older people, and others)
• Evaluate tools, techniques, and resources for designing and altering facilities to ensure compliance with the proposed requirements of the ADA (a civil rights law), as well as accessibility codes adopted by state and local code authorities
